Craig Hoy MSP has selected the winning entry for his Christmas card competition, which this year has been run in conjunction with GoFibre and involved young people with additional support needs who attend CanDo youth club.
Pencaitland resident Sam Rodger, a regular at CanDo youth club, secured the prize, with Nancy Hamilton and Coll Morrison securing runner-up prizes.
The colourful designs were drawn up by the youth club participants and were judged by Craig, with all entries set to appear in a pop-up exhibition in his office window in Haddington during December.
Craig Hoy MSP said: “I’m thrilled by all the wonderful designs we received from CanDo and choosing just one winner was incredibly difficult!
“I want to extend a huge thank you to GoFibre for their generous sponsorship and donation, which will go a long way in supporting the invaluable work that CanDo does for young people in East Lothian. It was a joy to meet everyone at the presentation, and I hope everyone who receives the card likes it as much as I do.”
GoFibre Delivery Manager Liam Flanagan said: “It’s a festive treat to support this competition, especially seeing the effort and creativity that has gone into the Christmas card competition from all the kids. Congratulations to the winners and everyone who took part. GoFibre is also proud to provide a Christmas donation to CanDo, a tremendous local charity that does so much for children here in East Lothian.”
CanDo coordinator Kirsty Milne said: “Our members loved taking part in this competition. We all enjoyed a festive crafting session supported by our talented friend Clare Palmer-Fairbairn. It was amazing to see the children so engaged and excited by the process. Sam, Nancy, and Coll are delighted to have been chosen as the winners, and it means a lot to their families to have the skills and talent of their children recognised. Thank you to MSP Craig Hoy and GoFibre for this opportunity for our members to see their artwork in print.”
