It appears that East Lothian Council think that all the hundreds of people who opposed and objected to the parking proposals misunderstood and got it wrong!!!
At todays council meeting Conservative Councillors put forward an amendment which sought to scrap the plans completely! Sadly we were out voted and support for Councils plans to start over whilst also accelerating the parking management review to consult on the other 5 towns concurrently, namely Haddington, Tranent, Musselburgh, Prestonpans and Dunbar, was supported by Labour, SNP and Green Councillors.
Surely the additional £500,000 that this is now going to cost in consultancy fees, would be better spent on protecting and sustaining important frontline services across East Lothian, including the likes of music tuition and library services which were cut in Labour's budget last week.
